Laboratory of Plant Physiology

SAKAI, Shingo (Professor: Institute of Biological Sciences)

Doctoral program: Life and Environmental Sciences (Integrative Environmental Sciences)
Undergraduate program: College of Biological Sciences

Research: Research on physiological functions and the mode of action of plant hormones. One research project involves the regulation of gene expression by plant hormones in sexual modification, cut injury and immortal cell induction. Another research project involves the characterization of putative plant hormone receptors. A new project is the purification and gene cloning of telomerase of higher plants.

SATOH, Shinobu (Associate professor: Institute of Biological Sciences)

Doctoral program: Life and Environmental Sciences (Integrative Environmental Sciences)
Undergraduate program: College of Biological Sciences

Research: Research on the physiology and molecular biology of plant development and function, especially on molecular functions of apoplast in cell-to-cell and organ-to-organ interactions in higher plants.

Project 1: Functions of root and organic substances in xylem sap in the interaction of plant organs, especially in the development and functions of above-ground organs. (Publication list 1)

Project 2: Functions of proteins and (pectic) polysaccharides of cell wall in morphogenesis, development and functions of plant cells. (Publication list 2)
