単細遊付着性。細胞は球形〜不定形、大きさ6-20 µm。珪藻などの基物（特にLeptocylindrus）に付着しており、しばしば数〜数十細胞が集塊をつくっている。細胞先端から１本の長い鞭毛をまっすぐ伸ばしている。
