Cells of Paramecium produce repeated spontaneous action potentials in a Ba2+ containing solution. The cells exhibit spontaneous backward swimmings in response to these action potentials. The behavioural responses are often called barium dance. The video was taken under the dark-field illumination. Unicellular Paramecium is about 200 um in length.
